There are over a 100 different sub species of deer in the world. They are located in all kinds of habitat except the north and South Pole because of the extreme cold. White-tailed Deer

This type of deer has a white patch around its tail. This is the reason why this kind of deer is called white-taileds deer.

Red Deer

This type of deer has a red coat all over it. The shade of red may differ from region to region from a dark red shade to one which looks like a brown tinge.

Reindeer

This is the kind of deer you see simulated in Christmas season with Santa Claus.

Moose

Moose is the largest sub-species in the deer family. They can weigh about 1800 lbs and 5 feet in height.

Water Deer

The main visual difference are the tusks instead of antlers. However, their genetics are linked to the deer family.

Muntjac

The Muntjac are similar to the Indian Muntjac but different in genetics.

Axis Deer

The fawns of this species has white spots all over the body which remain on grown up deer as well.

Elk

They stand out due to their beautiful design which is especially prominent in the males of this species.

Sika Deer

They are distinguished by the size of their legs and head. Their head and legs are especially small in size when compared to their body or any species.

Eld’s Deer

They are distinguished by the antler spread which is about 39 inches wide. They weigh about 330 lbs when fully grown.

Samber Deer

This looks a lot like the Elk due to its large body and small legs. However, the antlers are long and pointy which differentiates them from the Elk.

Visayan Spotted Deer

They are very small in size and can be compared to a size of a dog of medium built.

Fallow Deer

They have a brown coat with white spots and medium in size. Their spots are permanent from their birth and remain until the end of their life cycle.

Key Deer

This is sub-species of the white-tailed deer but is way smaller than them. They usually weigh 50 to 70 lbs max.

Mule Deer

It is one of the larger species of the deer family. they have large ears as compared to their body size which is a unique feature when compared with other deer.

Pampas Deer

Their coat is of a light tan color which provides them good camouflage in their own habitat. They also have white patches on their head region.

Pudu Deer

Pudu deer is the smallest in the deer family. They are come in the cute region which makes them a worth seeing and keeping animal for humans.

Roe Deer

They weigh about 30 to 60 lbs and their fully grown deer is easily mistaken for a young one of specie. They are also one of the most beautiful animals in the deer family.
